RM2- Day 6: Broiled Aloo fry with Tandoori Gobi (Broiled Potato fry with Tandoori flavored Cauliflower)

This is my post for RM2-Day 6. These days I am experimenting variety of dishes in my broiler. It has all been a wonderful experience, each time I make something in it, because its never failed to surprise me :) I had tried Chicken Lollipop and it was a success, so I decided to make something with veggies. And the all purpose veggie to experiment in such situation is of course, Potato (Aloo) . I also had some left over Cauliflower which I was keeping for making Gobi Manchurian this weekend. But when I saw how the Aloo turned out, I could not wait to try the Gobi. I loved the outcome of both veggies from the broiler. I was surprised how fast the potato cooked, they were crispy on the outside and tender inside. I loved the Gobi too, I had used Tandoori paste and it gave a beautiful colour as you can see from the picture. Let me now share the recipe:

Ingredients:

For the broiled aloo fry:
----------------------------------
Potato: 2 medium size, unpeeled and cut in cubes of equal size.
Spices I used to flavor the potato:
Coriander powder, Red chilli powder, Garlic powder, Onion powder, Asafoetida, dried Oregano leaves
Salt
Oil
Freshly cracked pepper

For the Broiled Tandoori Gobi:

Cauliflower florets: 1 cup
Spices to flavor the cauliflower: Tandoori paste
Cornstarch
Oil
Freshly cracked pepper
Method:

Marinate the potato in the spices and add salt as necessary. Also add some oil to coat all the pieces. Do not add the freshly cracked pepper at this stage. Turn the broiler on and spread these potato pieces on a aluminum foil lining a broiling tray. Then broil for around 5-10 minutes and check in between for the doneness of the potato. Transfer them to a serving plate and sprinkle freshly cracked pepper and dried oregano leaves. Repeat the same for the cauliflower , except that the broiling time is just 5 - 7 minutes. These are best served hot. If you need to make them ahead, you can do so and then warm it later in the broiler for 5 minutes.

I found this snack to be better than their fried counterpart. And yes, less mess. I hope you would like them too :)
